ALEX WYLIE – VETERINARY SURGEON
Alex graduated from the University of Queensland vet school, Australia, in 1993. She came to the UK in 1996 and locumed for two and half years. Alex has been working at Eastgate veterinary Group since 1998. With the support of the practice she has developed her surgical skills (her first veterinary love) and discovered new interests such as ultrasonography, acupuncture and geriatrics.
Outside of work Alex enjoys walking, travelling, photography and appreciating traditional English pubs (including the local cider). She has a passion for discovering and sharing information about dog-friendly businesses (pubs, shops, hotels, restaurants etc.).
HANNAH PINNOCK – VETERINARY SURGEON
Hannah qualified as a vet from Cambridge University in 2011. She joined Eastgate Vets in 2017 to continue her love of general practice. After developing an interest in internal medicine, Hannah completed a certificate in small animal medicine with the BSAVA. She enjoys practicing acupuncture and has a keen interest in helping ‘golden oldies’ with their care and comfort.
Outside of work Hannah is an enthusiastic baker, she lives with a multitude of pets – feathered, furred and some with shells! In the summer she can be found frequently on the tennis court and she is never far from her dog Huxley.
AMY BEARDSWORTH – VETERINARY SURGEON
Amy joined us in 2014. She graduated from Liverpool University and completed an internship at the Animal Health Trust afterwards. Amy is qualified in small animal acupuncture and is interested in all aspects of veterinary practice. She recently got married and enjoys spending time with friends, family and her naughty cat Velcro .
MATT MEEK – VETERINARY SURGEON
Matt joined us in 2016 having graduated from Cambridge University. He has a particular interest in orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. His outside interests include cycling, specifically time trialling at a national level. He also grows chillies and vines.
His partner is also a vet and makes us great cakes!
JESS WARREN – VETERINARY SURGEON
Jess joined us in 2017 as our new vet and is a graduate from the University of Nottingham. She loves greyhounds and has two of her own, called Ted and Bella. Matt and Howard put Bella’s foot back together with some impressive orthopaedic surgery just before she started with us!
In her spare time, Jess loves baking and enjoys weekends away in the Peak District.
JO COBBETT – VETERINARY SURGEON
Jo was born and bred in Suffolk, then moved to Cambridge for university, where she also met her husband and found her first job after graduation in 2009. It wasn’t long before Suffolk called again and she moved back in 2010. She joined Eastgate in 2017, and now lives just outside Bury with her husband, 2 young children and two dogs.
DAVID BAINBRIDGE – VETERINARY SURGEON
David qualified in 1992 from Cambridge Vet School. After some time in mixed practice in Essex he did a PhD in reproductive biology at London Zoo, followed by work at the Royal Vet College and Oxford, Cornell and Sydney universities. He now lectures on the Veterinary Medicine course at Cambridge, is Admissions Tutor at St Catherine’s College and writes popular science books – mainly about why humans are so weird compared to other animals. He is married with three children and three cats, and works mainly on Saturday mornings at Eastgate.
CATHERINE WYNNE – HEAD NURSE
Catherine completed her training here with Eastgate after her ‘A’ levels. She has worked here since 2002.
Catherine enjoys all aspects of veterinary nursing but has a particular interest in surgical nursing. Catherine has horses at home and enjoys competing in her spare time. She lives locally with her husband and her border terrier ‘Buddy’.
LEANNE HARRISON – SENIOR CLINICAL NURSE
Leanne joined Eastgate in 2010 where she completed her RVN training. She previously worked in North Norfolk. She has a particular interest in Nurse Clinics and Surgical Nursing.
She lives with her partner and her border collie, Murphy, with whom she attends regular agility training.
MATT WRIGHT – VETERINARY NURSE
Matt returned to Eastgate following a spell at a referral centre for 5 years. He gained a certificate in nursing of exotic species and enjoys all aspects of nursing but is particularly passionate about small furry and reptile husbandry.
KAREN HALL – VETERINARY NURSE
Karen joined Eastgate in 2013 whilst doing an Animal Nursing Assistant course at Otley College. She gained further training at the Animal Health Trust and re-joined Eastgate in 2016 where she trained as a veterinary nurse. She lives locally with her husband, two boys and her labrador ‘Gin’ and border terriers ‘Tia and ‘Mabel’. She participates in running events and has completed the Paris marathon to name but a few.
LOUISE OLLEY – VETERINARY NURSE
Louise joined us in 2013 as a trainee nurse. She completed her degree with first class honours as Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge. She loves mobility clinics and talking about osteoarthritis and this was the topic off her dissertation which she presented at BVNA congress in 2017. She a very scrummy British Shorthair called Billy…loves to go riding…is a bit of a bookworm and stays calm by going to a Boxing club once a week to vent out any frustration.
CLAIRE JACKSON – VETERINARY NURSE, PET INSURANCE & PUPPY PARTY CO-ORDINATOR
Claire joined Eastgate in 1995 and qualified as a nurse in 1998. She lives in Bury St Edmunds with her husband, 2 children and rescue dog Badger amongst other animals.
Claire processes all the Pet Insurance claims and runs the Puppy Parties held at the surgery.
NATASHA GOODCHILD – NURSING ASSISTANT
Natasha joined us in 2017 as a nursing assistant whilst finishing studying A level Biology, Chemistry and Geography. She hopes to study veterinary medicine at University. She has two cats and is trying to convince her family to adopt a kitten
ROSIE EBOMA – HEAD RECEPTIONIST
Rosie joined Eastgate in 2006 after 3 years at Reaseheart College near Nantwich, Cheshire. At college she successfully completed her first Diploma in Animal Care and the National certificate in Animal Care. After working as a receptionist in Bury and Thetford branches, Rosie is now the Head receptionist at Bury.
She lives with her husband and her English Bull Terrier who is very mischievous……we could write a book on the things he has done (and swallowed!).
CAROLINE HOLMAN – RECEPTIONIST
Caroline has been at Eastgate for over 10 years. She has one dog and four Tortoise’s.
ELAINE EVANS – RECEPTIONIST
Elaine returned to the practice after 11 years. She is married with 3 children 2 boys and a girl. She has a 5 year old springer spaniel Tilly, 3 guinea pigs and chickens. She enjoys being out-doors and spending time with family and friends.
KAREN PERRY – RECEPTIONIST
Karen works at Bury St Edmunds two evenings a week and every Saturday.
Her day job is a teaching assistant in a local school, so breaks both sides of the rule never to work with children and animals. She loves both!
CLAIRE CRANE –PRACTICE MANAGER
Claire is Bury St Edmunds born and raised. She has one son. Claire started working for Nixon, Tew and Partners (the old name for Eastgate) in 1983 as an all-round assistant. She has done almost every job in the practice, nursing, laboratory work, accounts and reception. Claire now brings this experience to bear in her role as practice manager in the day to day running of the surgery.
JO AUSTIN – PRACTICE MANAGER
Jo grew up on a farm in Hengrave. She is married to Jim and has 2 daughters Becky and Kirsty. Jo started work here in 1981 as an all-rounder doing nursing, laboratory work, accounts and reception. Jo now works in the administrative office where she is responsible for purchase accounting and the day to day running of the whole practice. The family have 3 cats Chloe, Charlie and Chester.
PAULA OSBORNE – ADMINISTRATOR
Paula lives in Bury. She joined Eastgate in 1997 as Head Receptionist. After leaving us for a few years she has now returned as office administrator. Paula has a lurcher who was found locally as a stray.
JANE ROBINSON – ACCOUNTS ADMINISTRATOR
Jane came to live in Bury St Edmunds from Gorleston in 1971. She is married with one son.
After working at a local bank for 20 years, Jane came to work at Eastgate in 2000. Her role is serving and controlling the accounts for the charities that we work closely with.
Her pastimes include yoga, going to the cinema and walking her dog.
DONNA HOBBS – MARKETING ASSISTANT/RECEPTIONIST
Donna does the marketing and promotions for Eastgate and can often been seen on reception. She particularly enjoys running our Facebook page.
She lives with her partner Mark and has two sons that keep her on her toes……her interests out of work include Zumba, Zumba and more Zumba.
