Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a treatment involving the placing of needles into specific locations on the body, and can reduce pain and improve recovery rates.

Pet acupuncture is a complementary treatment that can be used to help many conditions from chronic pain to digestive problems and continence issues.

It involves the placement of very small needles in particular points of the body, based both on western anatomical knowledge and traditional Chinese theory.

Most pets, including dogs and cats, tolerate this treatment very well, and some will even relax to the point of going to sleep.

We most commonly recommend this treatment for cases of discomfort caused by osteoarthritis, and in these patients we recommend a course of three to four sessions approximately a week apart to review if your pet responds positively to the acupuncture.

We have vets at our Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall branches who practice acupuncture – give us a call to discuss if your pet could benefit from this therapy.
